Oligosaccharide

Oligosaccharide (OLIGO), derived biotechnologically from starch through a-glucosoidal linkages, is now widely accepted as a new source of functional sugar. It promotes the growth of beneficial bifidobacteria in the intestines, which act to regulate intestinal pH while inhibiting the growth of harmful bacteria. This results in a reduction of toxic secretions by these harmful bacteria. With a naturally sweet taste, IMO is an ideal low-calorie sugar substitute for refined sugar.

1. Anticancer activity
Lactic acid and acetic acid, produced from the metabolism of bifidobacteria, regulate intestinal peristalsis and prevents constipation. OLIGO also inhibits the growth of harmful bacteria which produce potentially cancer-inducing toxins such as ammonia, hydrogen sulphine and benzene. Over time, these toxins accumulate in the blood, liver and kidneys. Using OLIGO can help to reduce the cancer risk from these factors.

2. Lowering blood cholesterol level

Bifidobacteria regulates the synthesis and promotes the metabolism of cholesterol, thus preventing cholesterolemia.

3. Rich source of vitamins
Studies have shown that bifidobacteria produces vitamins B1, B2, B6, B12 and nicotinic acid, which are beneficial to the human body.

4. Low calorie
Natural sweetener-OLIGO is naturally sweet but is resistant to digestion by saliva, and intestinalor gastric juices, and thus is not oxidized to produce energy and heat but serves as a useful substrate for the growth of bifidobacteria.

5. Reduces tooth decay
OLIGO is non-fermentable by bacterial enzymes in the mouth, and thus does not cause tooth decay.
